Oh... the Irony

Shoes:Steve Madden| Shirt:H&M|Backpack:LeSportsac|Leggings:Mossimo|Beanie:Bat Mitvah|

I bring neon back.
Just kidding neon never left
but if it did I would bring it back.
I standby neon through everything.
You will find no other color that makes you look tanner
no other color that is as bright
and no other color that is as cool.
This post is full of irony:
A Hat in 90º?
Backpacks in Summer?
Well, Almost summer
if it ever decides to come.

As school comes to a close the students of the world have to start thinking about a very important question:
Graduation Dresses.
I have had quite a lot of trouble this year finding the perfect dress for graduation.
I looked far and wide throughout this large space we call the internet
I even visited my favorite place: Bloomingdales
yet, nothing seemed to excite me.
So, for all of these people going through the same problem I had.
Here is some inspiration.
I like all these dresses but I would have to say my favorite is the oasis patterned dress.
now it is time to reveal my graduation dress/es
I still haven't decided.
1.

Prudance Evil Eye Dress --> Dolce Vita

and 2.
Sleeveless A-Line Embroidered Dress by, Bar III

You might be wondering:
How is she going to wear two dresses to graduation?
The answer is I will not.
My plan:
1. Buy both
2. Have them shipped
3. Try them on
4. Choose which one looks better on me

Remember

You know those times when you finally get around to cleaning your closet and find the most amazing thing that you forgot you had? Well that's me with this skirt. The peplum is cute and all but the waist band is adorable.
You do not find a skirt everyday with a waistband that chimes when you walk. Everyone will know when you have entered a room.

Boy am I glad I did.
This outfit is for memorial day weekend/ summer
as long as it is hot.
I can just imagine myself wearing this on the beach with my feet in the warm sand or striding in town carrying a  large ice cream cone.
Summer come sooner!
Happy Memorial Weekend everybody!

May Madness

Shorts: Pacsun|Shirt:Pacsun|Shoes:J-Crew|Shorts(2):Pacsun|Ball:ZorbSport Bag:TheTurtleTrainonEtsy|NailGadget:Amazon|Balletflats:SundanceCatalog|Skirt:Storenvy
Here it is.
Right in time for the end of May (whoops!)
well actually we have a week left
so it's all good.
This collage of my favorites is a mix of spring and summer.
Tell me why there are almost 4 months of freezing cold and only 2 months of Spring's perfect weather?

1. (The tribal print shorts) I am in DIRE need of new shorts and these seem to fit my criteria (1. awesome,  2. awesome, 3. awesome!)

2. (T-Shirt with beach scene) Isn't this perfect for the beach? and even if your not at the beach this shirt will have you imagining that you are.
3. I NEED these shoes. They are perfect. They are adorable AND floral. Too bad I didn't find these shoes sooner because then I would have worn them EVERYDAY. They would also go perfect with the white skirt on the bottom or pants or a dress. (They would go perfectly with everything)
4. See number 1
5. (hamster ball) Have you ever see the One Direction music video Live While We're Young? If not check it out here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbPED9bisSc
Well anyway back to my point. In the video they use these human hamster ball type things and boy do they look like a bunch of fun.
6. (the beach bag)I also am in need of a beach bag. I love this bags beachy vibe with the tan (tan goes with everything!) and its bright splash with the pool party blue monogram.
7. These things, although definitely not the most attractive things look like the most useful things ever. This invention helps get one step closer to ending all of the worlds problems. One of them being not sitting around long enough or messing up your nail polish when it is still wet. With this cool gadget you do not need to worry about that any longer.
8. Calling all the wanna-be ballerinas (a.k.a me) these shoes are for you. These shoes give the dainty and precious look of ballet shoes but without the uncomfortableness and this way you can wear them everyday. These shoes would also go perfectly with the white skirt shown in this collage.
9. the ballet flats + the skirt = a way to make ballet outfits everyday outfits!

BIG Contest!

Hello fellow blog readers,
I have a big announcement.
Like a BIIIIIIIIGGGG announcement.
So I will be going on a trip in a couple of weeks
and instead of leaving the blog untouched while away I decided to hold a contest.

From the date of this post until Wednesday, June 5, I will be holding a contest. The winner of the contest will be the FIRST guest blogger in the HISTORY of BrightLightsBrightLife.
This is kind of a big deal.
This means that the fate of the blog would rest in the winners hands (until I come back).

To enter the contest you should email me at brightlightsbrightlife@gmail.com
In the email you MUST include:
1. Name, where you are from, and age
2. How you would sum up your style (for example I would describe mine as walking the line of elegant.)
3. Anything you would like me to know about you. {Insert Life Story Here} JK please don't.
4. A picture of you in one of your favorite/ best outfits.

This is your chance to test out the blogging world without having to start from scratch (which is VERY VERY hard.)

I will announce the winner on June 8th or 9th.

Are you excited because I am.

On your mark ....

                 Get Set.....
                                      GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I look forward to reading all of these emails. It will be more interesting than all the end of the year projects I have piling up.

A Very Simple Equation

|jumper:FreePeople|Leggings:Abound|Sandals:SteveMadden|Ring:Vintage|

It started with the adorable jumper
and then came the leggings (necessary since the jumper is see through)
and then the sandals
and then the ring.
I had forgotten about that ring.
I was just going along doing whatever the heck I do over the weekend (which usually involves watching hours of Grey's Anatomy) when I came across the ring.
The ring, in my opinion, makes the outfit. I mean I love the outfit but without the ring it would just be
well
another great outfit.
The ring is PERFECT.
It's hand painted flowers make it fit perfectly with this what I think to be
a modern take on a 19th century prairie farm girl.
Its bright colors add a pop to the beigish outfit.

so for all the math geeks out there here is an equation
Jumper + Leggings + Sandals +  Ring = A FAB-U-LOUS OUTFIT.

The best of the Met Gala 2013: Part 2

Now we have the worst dressed over with so it is time to name the best!

The Bronze goes to.....
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/06/met-gala-2013-red-carpet_n_3187536.html?ir=Style
Katie Holmes in Calvin Klein

This dress has gotten a lot of controversy.
Many argue that this outfit is in no way Punk and therefor not fitting into the theme of the night, but I disagree. There isn't a true definition of punk.  There are stereo types of punk style but one person's view of a punk outfit is probably different then the next persons. Therefore, I claim that this dress is not only AMAZING but it is also punk. Having the dress be white gives Katie a stand out look from the majority of the people dressed in black/ dark colors. The simple design also gives it a very elegant appeal.
You are probably thinking (or I am thinking for you)
"Yes, the dress is very pretty but where is the punk?"
In my opinion the punk is in the eyes.
The punk is in the hair.
The punk is also on the train of the dress. The hauntingly elegant cut look that this dress has. The cutting at the bottom makes the dress. Without the cutting this dress would be a bland choice for the Oscars but with the cutting the dress is ready for The Met Gala.

The silver medal goes to.....
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/06/met-gala-2013-red-carpet_n_3187536.html?ir=Style

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

This dress is so great it almost makes me forget my severe annoyances towards Taylor that has come up  in the past year.
1. The fact that she has a Keds line.
KEDS.
I can not stand Keds. Why not go with Converse or Superega line or anything besides Keds?
2. Her 1,000 boyfriends.  (Maybe I am over exaggerating. Maybe she only had 999.)

She looks so different I didn't even recognize her the first time I saw this photo. She has traded in her bright sundresses and lipstick for this black, cutout dress and a smokey eye. This dress is busy in a good way. The cutouts give the black dress an interesting touch while the dark lace filling these cut outs sets her apart from the many others wearing a black cut out dress. The sparkles at the neckline give it a Taylor feel but in a dark punkish way.

And the best dressed at the Met Gala 2013 goes to........

Cara Delevingne in Burberry!!!

I am not going to lie. This dress is quite intimidating. If I was at the Met Gala and I saw Cara wearing this dress I would stay far away.
FAR
FAR
away.
The spikes look like they would hurt and her dark eye makeup and sullen face makes her look scary. I am so sick of seeing spikes everywhere and on everything. I truly don't get the point. I feel they make any look seem cheesy but Cara proved me wrong. Her dress looks very elegant and not cheesy at all even with hundreds of spikes covering it. The shape is very slick and the white bag/ clutch looks very nice against the all black dress. This dress manages to be punk, elegant, intimidating, and beautiful all at the same time.

Met Gala Red Carpet Reviews: Part 1

I was almost crying when I figured out that I was missing the Met Gala once again. I have always wanted to go and see it. How cool would it be to photo bomb a red carpet shot? (Although that is almost impossible to do.)   It is also convenient considering I am just a walk away from it. But no, I have to wait another year and then I will go for sure.
(That's what I said last year)
But I mean it this time.

So I now after this little sob story I present to you the best and worst dressed of  The Met Gala 2013 PUNK: Chaos to Couture

So let's kick things off with the worst and make our way to the the best.

THE BAD:
Photo: http://www.popsugar.com/Miley-Cyrus-Met-Gala-2013-30389097

This dress puts Marc Jacobs to shame. It looks as if Miley has been caught in a fisherman's net on route to the Gala. Her hair looks like she has been electrocuted and didn't bother fixing it.

Second Place goes to.....

Photo: http://www.celebuzz.com

I honestly dont know what Kim is trying to do here. Is she concerned there wont be enough flowers at the event and is now trying to add her own? This dress is neither punk nor pretty in any way whatsoever. This dress should be hidden in the attic and never seen again because it will still be ugly in 50 years. I have one question for Kim and designer Riccardo Tisci: Was there some contest of who could cover the most skin because Kim definitely won. You can't even see her hands.  The dress includes sewn on gloves.

And your award for worst dressed celebrity to go down in history for the  Met Gala 2013 goes to
.........
.....................

Zandra Rhodes wearing who knows what

Photo: http://www.styleite.com/media/met-gala-2013-red-carpet/#7

I find this especially sad because Zandra is a fashion designer herself. I will not be buying anything made by her for a very long time.
 maybe even ever
[Insert Gasp here]

It will take me years to live this dress down. If I was wearing something as bad as that, I would not be smiling.
I wouldn't even smile for the red carpet cameras.
Yes, this is how much I hate this dress.

The severe flaws of this dress are pretty obvious so I wont go into too much detail.
I just have a couple of things I would like to get out about this dress.
1. It looks like a zombie learning how to sew.
2. What is with all the strings?
3. The pink hair does not compliment the dress IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER!
5. She took the punk theme a little too literally.
6. I realize now while proof reading that I was so into explaining my hatred towards this dress that I  forgot to put in a number four.
7. I am not going to even bother changing it.

I will post the bests tomorrow.

My sunglass story

WARNING:
Embarrassing Selfies Ahead:
May cause severe embarrassment

Sunglasses:Urban Outfitters

So once again (Please check past posts to understand why I say again.)

I was in Urban Outfitters
(on a different day)
Yes, I go there a lot
and I was in the jewelry/ accessory section
curse you jewelry / accessory section
you make me broke.

So, when I was looking in this section I found these sunglasses.
When I picked up these sunglasses from the rack
a little "ahhhh!" sound was made in my head.
You know, the sound they have in movies when there is a door with light coming out of it which is supposed to solve all your problems.
This one solved one of my problems:
the problem of finding the perfect pair of sunglasses.

I have always been more of the traditional wayfarer (or however you spell it), aviator kind of girl or I just go without them which leads to blindness when outside on sunny days.  I have attempted the circular sunglass many times but something about them does not sit well on my face. When I saw these I decided to give them a try. I didn't think they would work but the bright red color caught my eye.
You might disagree but I think they are perfect
Big, but not too big to overpower your face
Bright and standy-outish so they make a statement without scaring off the fish if wearing them sailing.
Not that that would be a bad thing.
I do not like to swim with fish.
The only time I like to see fish is when they are in a cute little aquarium with fake pink grass and spongebob pineapple huts.

I think it is safe to say that these sunglasses light up my life (or darken it) haha.
I'm too funny.

<3 Kiera

P.S
They look just as good on my head as on

P.P.S
Week of nails coming very soon
