Katie Holmes in Calvin Klein

This dress has gotten a lot of controversy.
Many argue that this outfit is in no way Punk and therefor not fitting into the theme of the night, but I disagree. There isn't a true definition of punk.  There are stereo types of punk style but one person's view of a punk outfit is probably different then the next persons. Therefore, I claim that this dress is not only AMAZING but it is also punk. Having the dress be white gives Katie a stand out look from the majority of the people dressed in black/ dark colors. The simple design also gives it a very elegant appeal.
You are probably thinking (or I am thinking for you)
"Yes, the dress is very pretty but where is the punk?"
In my opinion the punk is in the eyes.
The punk is in the hair.
The punk is also on the train of the dress. The hauntingly elegant cut look that this dress has. The cutting at the bottom makes the dress. Without the cutting this dress would be a bland choice for the Oscars but with the cutting the dress is ready for The Met Gala.

The silver medal goes to.....

Taylor Swift in J. Mendel

This dress is so great it almost makes me forget my severe annoyances towards Taylor that has come up  in the past year.
1. The fact that she has a Keds line.
KEDS.
I can not stand Keds. Why not go with Converse or Superega line or anything besides Keds?
2. Her 1,000 boyfriends.  (Maybe I am over exaggerating. Maybe she only had 999.)

She looks so different I didn't even recognize her the first time I saw this photo. She has traded in her bright sundresses and lipstick for this black, cutout dress and a smokey eye. This dress is busy in a good way. The cutouts give the black dress an interesting touch while the dark lace filling these cut outs sets her apart from the many others wearing a black cut out dress. The sparkles at the neckline give it a Taylor feel but in a dark punkish way.

And the best dressed at the Met Gala 2013 goes to........

Cara Delevingne in Burberry!!!

I am not going to lie. This dress is quite intimidating. If I was at the Met Gala and I saw Cara wearing this dress I would stay far away.
FAR
FAR
away.
The spikes look like they would hurt and her dark eye makeup and sullen face makes her look scary. I am so sick of seeing spikes everywhere and on everything. I truly don't get the point. I feel they make any look seem cheesy but Cara proved me wrong. Her dress looks very elegant and not cheesy at all even with hundreds of spikes covering it. The shape is very slick and the white bag/ clutch looks very nice against the all black dress. This dress manages to be punk, elegant, intimidating, and beautiful all at the same time.
